SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

MITS is a web-based system with browser and Java applet/application enabled user interfaces, a web server and database server.

The database server and web server may reside on the same system or be separated. The Student client is a browser-enabled interface that is compatible with any browser that supports HTML and Javascript, and is Java 1.2 compatible. Interaction with administrators and supervisors is through a Java 1.3 based GUI. The system adheres to the SCORM 1.1 standard and will soon support SCORM 1.2. Most of the processing is performed on the web server using a Java Servlet layer. The data specific to the system is stored in the MITS database which is currently Oracle 8i. Learning content is sotred in a flat file directory system on the web server.
