When you start the Web Browser CD, the Dreamcast will give you the opportunity to set up your own ISP for internet access. Click on the choice for setting up your own ISP.

(If you don't see the screen for configuring your Internet and e-mail connections, press the START button. A pattern of buttons will appear on the screen. Use the arrow cursor to choose the "OPTIONS" button on the bottom right, then press the (A) key.)

Select the "Internet Connection" icon and press the "A" button.

The "Basic Info" form will pop up on the screen. Fill out the fields in this form using the keyboard on the screen.

Enter your name in the "Your Real Name" field.
Enter your "csc####@whatever.net" username in the "User Login" field, and your e-mail password in the "Password" field.
Enter a dial-up phone number that is local to your area. You can choose this from our list of 56k access numbers.
Enter your DNS#1 (click here to find DNS#1) in the "DNS1" field.
Enter DNS#2 (click here to find DNS#2) in the "DNS2" field.
Press the "CLOSE" button on the lower right of the keyboard to remove the keyboard from the screen.

Next, click on "Dial Options" at the top of the "Basic Info" form. Enter your local area code, and what code you use to disable call waiting features or get outside lines, if necessary.

Next, click on the "Proxy Settings" at the top of the form. You don't need to program a proxy, so set the "Use Proxy" option to "no", and leave the other fields blank. Then click "OK" to exit the screen.

Press the "SAVE" button in the bottom right corner of the main setup form to save these settings.

Now you are ready to connect to the Internet!

e-mail setup

To set up your e-mail account, click on the "E-mail Account" icon. You will be taken to the "E-mail Account" screen. Fill out the fields in this screen using the keyboard that is visible on the screen.

Enter your user login in the "E-mail Login" field. (If your e-mail address @citystar.com is longer than 8 characters before the "@" sign, this will be the first 8 characters
Enter your e-mail address in the "E-mail Address" field. Note: To type the "@" symbol in your e-mail address, click on the (SHIFT) button of the on-screen keyboard, then click on the "2" key.
Enter pop.citystar.com in the "Incoming Server (POP3)" field.
Enter smtp.safepages.com in the "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" field.
Choose your preferences for e-mail headers and replies.
Click "OK" to exit the screen.

Now save your settings by pressing the "SAVE" button in the bottom right corner of the main setup screen.

browsing the web and using e-mail

On the main Sega Dreamcast Network screen, click on "[ENTER]" to browse the web, or on "[E-MAIL]" to send or receive e-mail. You'll see a message that the modem is dialing into CityStar, after which you will be connected.
To disconnect from the Internet when you are done, click on the arrows (-> <-) on any screen, or turn off the Dreamcast system.
